In Germany, the island of Borneo in the Indonesian archipelago is mainly known as a holidaymaker’s paradise. SCHELKMANN was able to install another tyre retreading system locally as a system supplier.

For the contract awarded by PT Pamapersada, based in Balikpapan, a town in the southern part of the island (Kalimantan), SCHELKMANN has been on board from the fi rst day onwards and was able to deliver the Indonesian fi rm a ‘complete trouble-free package’. In the pre-planning period, our experts were able to put the entire system technology together down to the last detail. All system components which are necessary for tyre retreading either come from our own production or are manufactured with the help of professionals. In constructing the system, ten containers were used, transporting 200 tonnes of material to Balikpapan.

Since the start of 2008, the capacity of the SCHELKMANN tyre retreading system has been scheduled to retread up to 1,000 tyres per year. These include the tyres which are particularly common and often required in open-cast coal mining, the 27.00 R 49 and 33.00 R 51 up to a maximum size of 40.00 R 57.

Of course SCHELKMANN always keeps its customers abreast of all necessary technology transfer developments. The company's experts were on the ground in Indonesia for several months to pass on technical expertise and oversee the smooth running of the project. They accompanied the construction phase of the machines and clarifi ed all the technical details with the professionals at Pama. The entire project was able to be realized by SCHELKMANN within twelve months. For the customer, the investment in the new facility will pay off within a very short period of time.
