RÖSLER products and services conquer the South American and African markets
The RÖSLER Group’s product and service range is not just increasingly in demand in Germany; it is particularly sought-after by mining companies abroad. This has resulted in the achieving of a higher profitability in terms of work processes and expanding the existing expertise. Over the past few months, Armin Müller - General Manager for R360 - travelled all over South America, Africa as well as other continents to introduce the portfolio of the RÖSLER Group to the local companies.
OTR tyre recycling in the centre of interest - In South America, negotiations are continuing regarding SCHELKMANN SPR systems, RÖSLER 360 Full Service Tyre and ZEUS products and so far have proven successful. South American raw material producer Anglo American in Chile, has expressed particular interest. An initial contact with the concern had been made at the ‘Heavy Equipment Tyre Conference’ in Brisbane, Australia and further talks were held in Santiago, Chile, and Dortmund, Germany. These again resulted in interesting synergetic effects as Anglo South Africa and other companies that were also interested in collaborations later approached RÖSLER.
The principal theme of a possible cooperation is the OTR tyre recycling as an important module of the RÖSLER 360 Full Service Tyre Management. The domain of ‘tyre disposal’ is gaining relevance in companies like Anglo American, BHP, Rio Tinto, Rio Vale Doce and Codelco. These companies have by now mastered challenges such as tyre shortages, tyre management and purchasing policy.
In January 2009, another trip to South America is planned with Brazil as the destination. Include are appointments with several mines of Rio Vale Doce, one of the four largest mining companies in the world, with a market share of 50% in Brazil
RÖSLER 360 delivers flexible solutions - RÖSLER is in discusiion with a rubber processing company which has a lot of ongoing business in the Chilean mining industry. Preliminary discussion are about the possibility of installing the SCHELKMANN SPR system and RÖSLER 360. As mines have reduced their production rates by approximately 10-25% due to the current market situation, an immediate project implementation was postponed. Nevertheless, many potential new customers are aware of the fact that services like RÖSLER 360 are an ideal solution for optimizing operation procedures, even in times of crisis. Taking advantage of the Full Service Tyre Management can already reduce the annual investment costs of tyres by more than 1.5 million Euros in a mining company with about 100 vehicles using 51-57" tyres. When the purchase price of an SPR system is included in this calculation, this sum is increased yet again and these costs will be quickly amortized.
On his travels through Africa, Armin Müller met up with a Brazilian company that has a branch in Zambia. The fleet of this subsidiary is to be increased by 60% and the RÖSLER expert recommended WINSTONE premium radial tyres for skimmers and employing the SPR system to retread OTR tyres of heavier construction vehicles.
In the course of the talks, it became obvious that the market is not yet ready for the installation of an SPR system. As an alternative, RÖSLER - in collaboration with its partner Quality Tyres Zambia - is now striving to further establish ZEUS flatproofing materials on the market. Several underground mining companies have shown interest in this technology. Furthermore, one of the companies asked the experts from the Dortmund-based company to train its staff on RÖSLER 360 for tyre management.
Armin Müller also travelled to the Democratic Republic of Congo to introduce the SCHELKMANN SPR systems on the regional market. Despite RÖSLER being at a competitive disadvantage over local tyre products in the Congo and many other African countries (these are not taxed with 25% customs duty), our marketing expert recognized opportunities to introduce this innovative system to a market where no comparable product exists.
