Rubber prices could increase another 26% in 2011
The price of natural rubber on the stock market has increased again according to Bloomberg. The price now stands at 3.67 USD/kg. One week ago the prices were at 3.50 USD/kg and it is rumored that at the very latest in 2011 the prices could increase by another 26%. The rumors are based on the increase in demand from China. In 2009 Chinese imports of natural rubber were said to be 1.59 million tons, this has changed to 1.68 million tons. Combined with reduced rubber crop in Thailand this could lead to a shortage of natural rubber. This is said to lead to increased prices.
